Before becoming a basketball player, Marcin Gortat preferred to play football. But when he grew up, he decided to switch to the orange ball. After playing one year as a professional in the club of his hometown, Lodz, Marcin moved to Köln in Germany where he improved quickly. During his last season in Köln, he played in the Euroleague, averaging very impressive figures. After this terrific season, he decided to go oversees to Orlando for his debut in the NBA. Last season, he was the first Pole to reach the NBA Finals. His major quality is his strong defense and his shot-blocking ability.
