Club Team 2008-09: MAROUSSI ATHENS (Greece-ESAKE) Career: Near East (Greece-ESAKE, 2002-04), Maroussi Athens (Greece-ESAKE, 2004-09)
Kostas Kaimakoglou was born in Korydallos but started his professional career in the near east. Kaimakoglou won the gold medal at the 2002 FIBA Europe U20 Championship as a member of the junior Greek national team, where he averaged 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He also played at the 2005 World University Games. Kostas' game is close to Michalis Kakiousis one, being physical inside but relying a lot on a good outside shot (46.6% in the Greek league last season), which enabled him to average 9.5 points per game with Maroussi. At 26, he has never played with the national team, but has a good chance to be in the final roster for EuroBasket 2009. |
