Team 2008-09: Premiata Montegranaro (Italy-Lega) Career: Tcherno More Varna (Bulgaria-Pro A, 2001-03), Levski Sofia (Bulgaria-Pro A, 2003-04), Avtodor Saratov (Russia-Superleague, 2004), Tcherno More Varna (Bulgaria-Pro A, 2004-06), Caja San Fernando Sevilla II (Spain-LEB 2, 2006-07), KK Split (Croatia-A1, 2007-08), KK Zadar (Croatia-A1, 008-March'09) .At last! Bulgaria now has a post player upon which it can depend offensively. Deyan easily made the transition from the youth teams - where he was a beast (17.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game at the 2006 U20 European Championship Men) - to the seniors, where he immediately became a factor during last summer's Qualifying Round. Just like his twin brother Kaloyan, he left his hometown of Varna in 2006 to play in Spain, but it was in Croatia, with Zadar, that he truly started to shine, before moving on to play in Italy where he averaged 12.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game with Montegranaro.Even though he's a little slow footed, this young and promising power forward will be a solid player at the top level and could be one the tournament's biggest surprises. Watch out! |
