Team 2008-09: UNICS KAZAN (Russia - Superleague)
Career: Zadar (Croatia-A1, 1998-2000), Junior College Southern Idaho (NCAA-2nd Div, 2000-01), Zadar (Croatia-A1, 2001-03), Pamesa Valencia (Spain-Liga ACB, 2003), Cibona Zagreb (Croatia-A1, 2004-05), Efes Pilsen (Turkey-TBL, 2005-06), Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL & Baltic, 2006-08).
Not a consistent starter but you will usually find the combo guard playing in crunch time. After a debut season with Unics Kazan in Russia, Popovic has again shown his versatility with a typically consistent campaign highlighting his reliability and durability. Both of these factors are a big reason why he is so important to this team. Though he might not be the most talented in every area, he has a big heart and the capability of playing either the point or the number two spot. He has great range in his outside game and could flourish in the backcourt shooting slot if Coach Repesa plays him less at the point. Question marks remain over his size when he moves away from pulling the strings as playmaker but he can make up for that with his intelligence on the court.
