Kurbanov has not played for the senior Russian national team yet but he has already worn the Russian jersey many times as a youngster. He was the leader of the U18 squad in 2004 and of the U20 selection in 2005. This season, he made a very promising start in the Russian league, averaging 14.0 points, 5.2 boards and 2.2 assists in the first five games. But his play dropped off throughout the season. He was still able to have great performances from time to time, pouring in 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against Ural Great Perm on January 24. Nikita can play both the 3 and 4 positions even if he's a little bit undersized as a power forward. |
