Something of an enigma in truth, Popovic has never quite made that step up to establish himself as a premier European point guard, despite playing for some stellar teams. He is however very capable and has quality. Coach Ivkovic will utilise his strengths defensively to try and lock down opposing guards and then pack his own team with scorers around Popovic who has a very average scoring ability. Nevertheless, after a full season in the Spanish ACB with Bruesa and then having been signed by Lietuvos Rytas during the summer, his stock is rising again. Showed in the World Championships in 2006 he can compete on the International stage and he has experience - something that is in short supply within a very young team. Has excellent vision and will execute plays which is what his team will need him to do.
