Kaspars Kambala's coming out party at EuroBasket 2001 was very impressive for him (19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game) as well as for Latvian national team when they finished in eighth place. After that Kambala established himself as one of the most dominant post player in Europe and collected good statistical numbers in Turkey, Spain and Russia. However his second appearance in EuroBasket 2003 was much less impressive. Two years after a new head coach of Latvia cut Kambla from the squad due to "psychological and tactical reasons" and in 2007 all their hopes were broken by his two year disqualification. But that time has passed and now Kaspars probably will be back. Well motivated and still hard working in practices since January he was playing in the Russia Superleague and shows that all his skills are intact. Now is a time for national team coaches to solve a tactical lesson - how to use Kambala and Biedrins together? |
