FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate Mentor and legendary coach Svetislav Pesic and Coaching Co-ordinator Michael Schwarz have been busy this week in Metz, France.
They have been picking the first bunch of candidates for the Champion U18 All Star Game, to be organized in Poland, during this year's EuroBasket 2009.
Tonight, at the closing ceremony of the U18 European Championship Men 2009, they will announce their initial selection of 24 players, all from this event. The five members of the U18 European Championship 2009 Division B All Tournament team and the MVP of the Division C will then be added to that selection to form a group of 30.
The Champion U18 All Star Game is an original event which will take place for the first time ever, in Katowice, Poland, the venue of the EuroBasket 2009 finals, 16th -19th September, featuring the very best players of this age category from all over Europe.
The actual Game will be played on Friday, 18th September in front of crowd watching the EuroBasket 2009 Quarter Final games. It will also be broadcast live around Europe.
The final 24 nominations will be announced on 24th August 2009.
All the costs at the camp, including travel for the players from their country to Poland and insurance, will be covered by FIBA Europe.
All players will be FIBA Europe's guests to watch all the games of the EuroBasket during their stay in Poland.
The Champion U18 All Star Game is run in conjunction with the EuroBasket 2009 Organising Committee and the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC).
