What does it takes to form a successful organizing committee for any kind of event? One would say it is experience and wisdom combined with youth and enthusiasm. And that's exactly the case with the group established by the President of the Polish Basketball Federation Roman Ludwiczuk.

Polish Basketball Federation President Roman Ludwiczuk.
Mr. Ludwiczuk is himself the head of the LOC. He is an experienced leader, former president of the basketball club Górnik Wałbrzych and a current member of the upper house of the Polish parliament. His right hand is Olga Kijewska, marketing specialist, who is also the daughter of Polish basketball great, and currently successful coach, Eugeniusz Kijewski.

Beyond that is a team of experienced professionals with different experiences in basketball who are responsible for different areas. Jacek Jakubowski is the man who helped to build the great Asseco Prokom Sopot EuroLeague team and with LOC he takes care of arenas. Adam Greczyło helps to provide IT for nearly every tournament in Poland, as well as serving as president of the women's team from Rybnik, so he was destined to be IT man for EuroBasket 2009. Krzysztof Koralewski and Zbigniew Szpilewski were FIBA referees for years, so they are also in the mix as competition and security managers. Tadeusz Szelągowski is a veteran who helped to build successful women's and men's clubs in Gdansk and Sopot in the past and now is the hotel manager. Media operations are responsibility of former journalists Adam Romański and Dariusz Szarmach with help of Piotr Kwiatkowski, who run several successful website projects.

There are also more people involved including all members of the board of the Polish Basketball Federation who are responsible for overseeing certain parts of work. And - last but not least - there's strong contingent of managers in seven cities who make things work on the very important local level.

This group of people works together since early 2008 to deliver successful and smoothly-run tournament at EuroBasket 2009.
