The Czech Republic returned to the friendly confines of Pardubice and won for the second time at home in EuroBasket qualifying Group D with a 91-70 demolition of Israel.

Fresh off a sound beating by Great Britain in London, the Czechs showed what they're made of with a convincing triumph over Zvi Sherf's team which has now lost two in a row after opening with an overtime win over the Brits in Tel Aviv.

Israel gave the Czechs all they could handle early on but with the score knotted at 10-10, Michal Jezdik's team poured in eight straight points - four apiece by Petr Benda and Tomás Satoránský - to move in front for good.

After twice going ahead by 13 before taking a 36-28 advantage to half-time, the Czechs began the second half with a 10-2 surge and stayed in control for the remainder of the contest.

Benda and Jiri Welsch had 20 points apiece to pace the Czechs, who got a nine-point, nine-rebound effort from Ondrej Starosta.

Guy Pnini finished with a game-high 22 points in defeat for Israel.

What may upset the Israel coach the most was his team's inability to match its opponents on the boards.

The Czech Republic thoroughly dominated, winning the rebounding battle 42-23.

Lior Elihayu, one of the stars in the Israel win over Great Britain, played just seven minutes and had one point and no rebounds.

The Czechs had a very good shooting performance on the night. They were 25 of 46 (54.3%) inside the arc and 11 of 29 (37.9%) beyond it.

Israel finished 15 of 36 (41.7%) from two-point range and seven of 13 (53.8%) on their threes.

Sherf's team were a mere 19 of 31 (61.3%) at charity stripe, compared to eight of 11 (72.7%) for the Czechs.

"I would like to give a lot of credit to the Czech team. They played a great game both at defense and offense. When they needed to score at crucial times they found a go-to player in Jiri Welsch. On the other hand our team played the worst game since we have been together. 22 offensive rebounds for the Czechs gave them just too many more possessions than we had. We had a bad start in ourlast two games; we had decided on some changes in starting line up tonight but it did not work."

Michal Jezdik, Czech republic coach:

"I would like to thank all the people that came to support us today. We knew the quality of the Israeli team from our past games. We managed to stop their pick-n'-roll which gave us the opportunity to run and create some easy shots in transition. We did a good job in rebounding, an aspect of game that we worked hard during the whole preparation. Of course, it was pleasant to have such high percentage shooting from three-points."
