Israel ended a three-game losing streak and stayed in the hunt for a top-two place in EuroBasket qualifying Group D with an 88-74 home triumph over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Zvi Sherf's team trailed by as many as seven points in the third quarter but hit back to win and improve to 2-3 with the victory - their first since a 102-92 overtime triumph in Tel Aviv against Great Britain on September 3.

Yotam Halperin led the way with 22 points, while Lior Eliyahu poured in 21 and Meir Tapiro 19.

Israel out-rebounded Bosnia and Herzegovina 51-29 with Eliyahu pulling down 17 - six off the offensive glass.

Bonsia and Herzegovina, despite Israel's hegemony on the boards, twice went ahead by seven in the third quarter, the second time at 51-44 with 7:10 to go in the period on a jump shot from Ivan Opacak.

Tapiro and Guy Pnini hit jumpers, Halperin made two free throws and Eliyahu scored on a lay-up for a one-point Israel advantage.

After Goran Ikonic replied with a three-pointer for the visitors,  Yaniv Green made a jumper to tie the game and then Eliyahu split one of two at the line to put the hosts on top for good.

Israel went in front at 63-56 late in the quarter and in the fourth, Bosnia got no closer than five.

Now Israel will go into their last qualifying game on Saturday at home to the Czech Republic looking to win and finish 3-3, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will also go for a third win at home against Great Britain.

Ikonic had 17 points to lead Bosnia and Herzegovina.
